Team Uniform

Racing Uniform

All Sovereign Grace athletes must wear the orange team-issued singlet and blue shorts while racing at meets.

Racing shoes

Many of our athletes wear their normal training shoes for meets. If you would like to invest in a pair of racing spikes or racing flats, Fleet Feet (Brentwood or Green Hills) has great customer service and would be able to fit your athlete.

Warmups

There are optional team warmups that you can buy. To buy please contact Coach Mike.

Training

Training Shoes

A good pair of running shoes is necessary to avoid injury. Academy Sports in Cool Springs has a good selection, and Fleet Feet (Brentwood or Green Hills) has great customer service.

Watches

While not required, we do encourage our athletes to wear a stopwatch at practice. Oftentimes we will do runs that are based on minutes (not miles) and it is helpful for someone in each pace group to be wearing a watch and to be able to note the minutes of the run or to verify the time for an interval.

Some of our athletes invest in GPS watches (such as Garmin or Forerunner) but a simple stopwatch with a start/stop button (such as a Timex Ironman) works just as well for timing purposes.

Dress Policy

Our team seeks to encourage its young men and women to glorify God in all they do, including what they wear. We should consider how our apparel might affect someone else.

Modest clothing must be worn by all team members while representing the Sovereign Grace running team at official practices, meets, and sponsored team events.

Here are some specific guidelines:

  • Athletes must wear their shirts during practices and meets.

  • Shirts should not be too tight, see-through, or too short.

  • For female sleeveless tops, we ask that your tank tops completely cover any undergarments and have straps that are at least three fingers wide at the shoulder.

  • Running shorts should not be gaping or show undergarments.
